It has been a busy couple of weeks getting to a point when everything was ready to go for today’s launch. I discovered that patience was key. I had a very broad focus going into this until yesterday. I finally realized that I should stick to what I know and focus on subjects with which I have the most experience. This website and the podcast are going to be my way to serve others. I have a degree in Special Education with secondary education as a focus. I have been working with students who have social, emotional, and behavioral needs; many with mental health issue, trauma, traumatic brain injury, AD/HD, bipolar-ism, schizophrenia, and sever anxiety disorders just to name a few. I have spent the last 10 years interacting with these struggling kids, helping them cope with their disabilities and their lives. I have been teaching classes on self-determination, self-awareness, life skills, mindset, coping with anxiety and stress, learning strategies to improve emotional regulation, relaxation and calming techniques, and improving social interaction. These are not topics that should simply be reserved for special education students. Even though most people do not struggle to the extent of these students, they still deal with some of the effects of these difficulties. Depression, anxiety, dealing with emotions, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (P.T.S.D.), stress, self-harm, addiction, thoughts of suicide, and social isolation are all things that people not diagnosed or labeled as special needs still go through. The need to learn coping skills and strategies, finding resources for assistance, and support from others for mental and emotional health is universal. I am going to dedicate my time helping others to get those resources that will help them in their fight to survive and flourish and providing useful and meaningful strategies to aid in the healing and growth of all who seek it. My suggestions and resources may at times fall under nutritional health or fitness, but my (our) focus will be on the mind and mental health and well-being. My research will be on many of the topics I have listed and brain health. Please join me on this quest. Everyone is affected in one way or another by these topics whether it is by a personal struggle or someone they love and care about who is suffering these issues. Thank you, and take care.
